Wilmslow Juniors Success Stories

In September 2012 Charlotte Leathem got through to the final stage of qualifying for the RICOH Women's British Open and only just missed out on playing in the final at Hoylake.

Ben Stanier, Charlotte Leatham and Rob Hart  were selected by The Cheshire Golf Union to play in the Menorca U18 Open to represent the county team as part of a team of 4. The open is a two day strokeplay event (Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st October) and all these players have done extremely well to impress the county and gain a position in this fantastic event.

Also in 2012, Rob Hart, Ben Stanier and Tom Lawton have all represented Cheshire in the E.G.U. Northern Boys County Championship.

This is a great achievement by these young men as the competition for places in all county squads is very tough. They can be seen quite often at the club practising all aspects of their game as they endeavour to reduce their handicaps.

Rob had great success in the Cheshire Matchplay in reaching the quarter final with  the notable scalp of David Peel in the third round.

We wish them well in their county exploits and look forward to perhaps one or two more from our junior ranks joining them in the near future.

In Autumn 2012, 12 junior members have been recommended to Cheshire for trials for their county training programme. They are Rob Hart, Ben Stanier, Harry Slade, Joe Healey, Edward Maddocks, Alasdair Brown, George Slade, Chris Drummond, Sam Hobson, Charlie Humphreys, Edward Fluck and Hywel Shaw.

Pictured is the junior team representing the club at Royal Birkdale, a match and venue thoroughly enjoyed by all

It is great to see The Wilmslow Golf Club being represented at such a high level in such a positive way by these talented young golfers.

Well done.
