Wilmslow Golf Club

Becoming a Junior at Wilmslow

Our aim is to encourage juniors of all ages to learn how to play, to behave properly on the golf course and to have some fun!

We organise several junior competitions during the year with eight trophies to be played for that have been kindly donated by members or associations within the club.  These are usually played for on a Sunday.  Most summer competitions are medals and the winter ones are stablefords.

Coaching and achievement of the National Skill Challenges is organized by our professional, Matthew Gillingham and his team.

Wilmslow juniors have had a run of success in recent years, starting with winning the Gleneagles division of the Mid Cheshire Junior League in 2008.  In 2009, they reached the final of the Derbyshire and Cheshire Juniors Knockout Cup losing out narrowly in the final.  In 2010 they won the Mid Cheshire Junior League Open and in 2011 our team won the Gross Scores Howard Peck Trophy in the Derbyshire and Cheshire League.  In 2012 we won our league for gross scores in the Derbyshire and Cheshire League but lost to Disley in the final of the Howard Peck Trophy.

All juniors at Wilmslow receive one lesson a year with the professional as part of their annual subscription, and are encouraged to have more to help them to improve their game and to understand the correct etiquette in order to play the game properly.
